Donald Olson, a physicist from Texas State University, is a forensic astronomer. He studies references to celestial events in works of art and literature. Check out this interview with Dr. Olson in which he describes the process of investigating the meteor painted by Frederic Edwin Church (pictured) and described by Walt Whitman in his poem "Year of Meteors, 1859 '60."
